The longevity of your Pleated Paper 5 Micron Prefilter Cartridge hinges significantly on the quality of the source water. Utilizing water from the open ocean may extend the lifespan of your prefilter cartridge to several months, whereas water from polluted bays could render the cartridge ineffective within hours of usage. Measuring 10" x 2.5" with a 5 micron pleated poly filter, these cartridges are both cost-effective and readily accessible worldwide through water filtration retailers and hardware stores. Please refrain from using a 5 micron carbon filter as a substitute prefilter. Doing so may result in inadequate flow to your system, potentially causing performance issues by depriving your high-pressure pump of seawater.
When you purchase your new Rainman watermaker, it comes with 5 prefilters (one fitted and four spares). Depending on the source water, each filter should last between 5 and 50+ hours. They are non-proprietary and readily available around the world.
